Granulate Feed System (GFS)

Description

The GFS is a machine used to mix virgin resin with recycled granulate for extrusion. The lightweight granulate is fed without bridging simultaneously with the virgin material.

In the models (OV and RT) designed for oval or rectangular grooves, the virgin resins or blends are kept completely separate from the recycled granulate until both enter the extruder screw.

In the models designed for round or square grooves (RD and SQ), the virgin resin and recycled ground material are combined in the lower part of the hopper before feeding it into the extruder. The film recovery operation becomes a closed loop and is automatically regulated by feeding the extruder with trim and, with accessory systems, the recovery of the reels.

Advantages and features

Each GFS features:

Two separate hopper chambers, one for virgin material and one for recycled granulated material, for feeding the light granulated/fluff material into the extrusion screw.
A high-efficiency cyclone receives the regrind from the granulator and loads it into the Fluff Hopper.
Arms inside the GFS prevent bridging and “loss of feed” in the extruder by automatically compensating for the presence or absence of regrind.
A lower combination chamber, in which the regrind is fed by the auger into the extruder screw, while the resin is fed by gravity, to meet the extruder’s throughput requirements.
The variable-speed motor that drives the auger is linked to the speed of the extruder.
An internal limit switch in the hopper ensures material presence monitoring.

Savings on the material used, as the granulated waste material is reused.
Greater system automation, as the GFS operates in concert with the extruder.
